The Legend of Teke Teke is one of Japan’s most terrifying urban legends. Teke Teke is a malevolent spirit that has become a horror franchise of its own. Teke Teke is said to be the ghost of a woman or schoolgirl who fell on a railway line and was cut in two. It is believed that this spirit seeks revenge for her untimely death, and so it may appear to unsuspecting victims in dark places.

The Teke Teke has several origin stories that point to different meanings behind the urban legend. In one version, she was once a homely girl who had a terrible accident, and her spirit is still seeking revenge. Another version suggests that she was the victim of a cruel prank, and her spirit is seeking revenge on those who wronged her.

Regardless of its origin, the Teke Teke is described as having a very distinct appearance. It is typically said to have the upper body of a human and the lower body of a kamaitachi, a Japanese weasel-like creature. Its torso is described as being covered in a bloody cloth, and it is said to have long claws and sharp teeth. It is also said to have a loud and eerie scream that can be heard in the darkness.
